Strategy formulation for the sustainable management of waste oils and petroleum residues

Action 4.1: Stakeholder meetings proposals for the implementation of legislation with initiatives, voluntary agreements and technical prerequisites

A series of six stakeholder meetings will be organized and held. These meetings will address the existing problems in terms of collecting accurate quantifiable data of waste produced, problems in regards to recording existing unsustainable/not-environmentally friendly activities and sources, developing and initiating separate collection and treatment activities, developing and implementing voluntary agreements in regards to this waste, defining and developing incentives for the sustainable management of waste and counter-incentives for their unsustainable disposal.

Action 4.2: Cataloguing of existing infrastructure for environmental sound and certified processing of waste oils and petroleum residues. Proposals for expanding/ improving environmental infrastructure

Cataloguing of existing infrastructure for environmentally sound and certified processing of waste oils and petroleum residues. This will be done by contacting and collecting information on all the existing certified handlers of these waste types registered with the ministry, sending questionnaires and the evaluation of different practices based on the existing life-cycle analysis for these approaches.

Action 4.3: Green practices guide

It will focus on good practices and technologies and practices for collection-separation at source, transport and proper processing of each category of waste oils and petroleum residues, so as to insure their sustainable and environmental management.
